There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from feeling unwell for months or years while being told that everything looks fine. I see it in the faces of nearly every new patient I meet who is seeking hormone therapy for women — women who have done their research, who know something is off, and who are done being dismissed. If you are in Florida and looking for hormone care that actually takes you seriously, I want to tell you what that looks like at Aura, and why the telehealth model we use here is every bit as rigorous as walking into a brick-and-mortar clinic.
Who Benefits From Hormone Therapy for Women Over 40
The short answer is: more women than conventional medicine currently treats. Hormone therapy has historically been reserved for women in full menopause with severe hot flashes — a narrow window that excludes the vast majority of women who are struggling in the years before menopause, during perimenopause, or with hormonal imbalances unrelated to menopause entirely.
At Aura, I work with women across a much broader range: women in their late 30s experiencing early perimenopause symptoms. Women in their 40s whose mood, sleep, and weight have shifted in ways nothing seems to fix. Women in their 50s who were scared away from hormone therapy by outdated research and are now reconsidering. Women of any age dealing with low testosterone, thyroid dysfunction, or estrogen dominance that is driving symptoms their primary care physician has attributed to stress. If your quality of life has declined and hormones haven’t been properly evaluated, you belong in this conversation.
What “Personalized” Hormone Therapy Actually Means
The term gets used a lot in wellness marketing. Let me tell you what it means in practice at Aura. Before I recommend anything, I run a comprehensive panel: estradiol, progesterone, total and free testosterone, DHEA-S, full thyroid function including free T3 and reverse T3, cortisol, and a metabolic panel. I review those results in the context of your symptoms, your cycle history, your sleep, your energy, and your goals.
From there, I build a protocol specific to you — not a standard template pulled from a menu. For some patients, bioidentical progesterone may improve sleep, anxiety, and cycle regularity. Individual results vary and response timelines differ. For others, we layer in low-dose estrogen and testosterone optimization. The dosing, the delivery method, the timing — all of it is calibrated to your labs and your response. There are no hand-offs to other providers at Aura. I personally see every patient, every follow-up, every adjustment.
Hormone Therapy via Telehealth in Florida — What to Expect
Florida patients can access Aura’s full hormone therapy program entirely via telehealth. You do not need to drive to a clinic. You do not need to sit in a waiting room. You do not need to see a different provider every visit. Here is what the process actually looks like:
- Initial consultation (video call with me directly) to review your history and symptoms
- Lab orders sent to a convenient local draw site — most patients are in and out in under 15 minutes
- Lab review appointment where we go through your results together and I explain what they mean
- Personalized protocol built and prescribed, with pharmacy delivery to your door
- Regular follow-up visits to monitor, adjust, and optimize
Telehealth does not mean less thorough. It means clinical depth from the comfort of your home, with the same level of care you would receive from a specialist in person. Read more about how telehealth hormone care compares to in-person visits.
The Question I Get Asked Most: Is Hormone Therapy Safe?
Yes — when properly evaluated, properly dosed, and properly monitored. The fear around hormone therapy largely traces back to a 2002 study that has since been substantially reanalyzed and recontextualized. The women in that study were older, used synthetic hormones at higher doses, and had pre-existing cardiovascular risk. The modern evidence — particularly for bioidentical hormones used at physiologic doses, initiated earlier in the hormonal transition — paints a meaningfully different picture.
I am not dismissive of risk. Every patient I work with gets a thorough evaluation and an honest conversation about their individual risk profile. But I am also not willing to let outdated fear stand between you and a quality of life you deserve. Learn more about what HRT is and what the evidence actually shows.
